Mrs. Lairscy's Pre-K Classroom

Welcome to Pre-K! My name is Mrs. Lairscy, and our paraprofessional will be Mrs. Walker. I am so excited to be teaching your little ones this year! I look forward to beginning this new journey with you and your child! Rest assured your child will experience an exciting, loving, educational experience throughout the year at Waynesboro Primary.
Hello! I cannot believe next week we will be beginning our 8th week of school! We have been learning so much in our class. This month our theme has been FAMILY. Students have learned the different members in a family and their roles. They have also learned that our families are all unique, and that different members in our family take care of us in special ways. We used our "About Me" bags to share about ourselves and our families. If you haven't sent in pictures please do so... we started our classroom family tree and OH MY is it growing!
We began the month of March by diving into the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss!
We learned to rhyme in socks,
we learned that word families rock,
we imagined and 'thunk' up all sorts of wild beasts,
then we ended it all with a green eggs & ham feast!

I wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am recharged and so excited about beginning a new year to strongly finish up the second half a school year that has already been so amazing!
The first couple of weeks we will spend a lot of our time reviewing and getting back into the swing of school. I want to focus on perfecting writing our names, counting to 100, and recognition of our letters/sounds and numbers. We will also be focusing more on Mathematical Skills and Scientific Thinking.
I'm so looking forward to 2018 and the many wonderful learning opportunities and educational growth it will bring!

Happy New Year,
Mrs. Lairscy

This has been an exciting week! From dress up for red ribbon week to meeting our new classroom pets! We are learning all about animals, so it was the perfect time to introduce the students to their two new pet fish. We took a class vote and decided to name them Goldie and Diamond. We will continue learning about animals, their habitats, and how they grow and change next week.
