The Five (5) P's - The Burke Way
Posted Date: 08/07/26 (01:04 AM)
Valued Employees,
The strength of Burke County Public Schools lies in our employees. From our dedicated teachers and essential support staff to our central office and school leaders, every single employee contributes directly to the success and well-being of our students. Every day across our schools and facilities, each of you plays a vital role in shaping the future of our students and our community. Whether you are leading a classroom, supporting our operations, transporting our children, or guiding school leadership, your dedication drives our collective success.
In an effort to keep us aligned and inspired, here are The Five (5) P’s that I referenced at the District’s Kickoff on July 30, 2026 - these things can help guide our daily work: Purpose, Prepare, Perform, Promote, and Protect.
• Purpose in Burke: Find or identify your purpose. Every role in our district carries profound meaning. Reminding ourselves daily of why we serve is critical. Our shared purpose is to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. When we stay connected to why we do this work, we bring our best selves to our district every single day.
• Prepare for Burke: You must be proactive in your planning to be prepared for duty. In the words of former BCPS Assistant Principal Mr. Emanuel Larkin: “Plan your work, so you can work your plan!” Success is built through thoughtful and intentional planning. Our collective preparation ensures our students enter safe, structured, and welcoming environments ready to learn. By preparing with rigor, we set our entire district up for seamless growth and sustainable progress.
• Perform for Burke: Produce results. Executing our duties with excellence every day is essential, knowing that every detail makes a meaningful difference. Delivering high-quality work is a team effort. When we perform our individual roles with pride, care, and consistency, we elevate the standard for our entire district and hold ourselves accountable.
• Promote Burke: Let's tell our story. We promote our great district by proudly sharing our wins, celebrating our progress, honoring our achievements, uplifting our colleagues and students, showcasing the excellence across our schools, and upholding the honor and integrity of our district in everything we do.
• Protect Burke: Don't allow anything or anyone to tear us down. Safeguarding our district is a responsibility we all share. Protection means maintaining physical safety, supporting one another’s well-being, and safeguarding the positive culture and reputation of our district.
It takes every single one of us working together to fulfill our mission. Thank you for bringing your energy, skill, and heart to work every day. Together, there is nothing we cannot achieve for our students and community. Our district’s potential relies on the shared dedication each of you brings every single day.
Your steadfast dedication to our mission and your relentless pursuit of excellence are appreciated. Always remember: no matter what you do, do it with HEART.
